Three minutes for you to analyze the flame retardant cable standard and grade

The main technical indicators of fire safety are flame retardant of —— CO2 cable, density of smoke, and toxicity of gas. The American fire standards are more concerned with the first two issues, but Europe and the United States have completely different views on fire safety. According to the traditional American concept, the root of fire lies in the production of carbon monoxide (CO) gas and the subsequent heat release of CO into CO2 in the combustion process, so controlling the heat release in the combustion process can reduce the harm of fire. Since European tradition, it is deeply believed that the amount of halogenic acid (HCL) produced in combustion, gas corrosion, smoke concentration and gas toxicity are the main factors that determine whether people can safely escape from the fire site.

(1) IEC flame-retardant grade

In order to evaluate the flame retardant performance of the cable, the International Electrotechnical Commission has formulated three standards: IEC60332-1, IEC60332-2 and IEC60332-3 respectively. IEC60332-1 and IEC60332-2 are used to assess the flame retardant capacity of a single cable by inclined and vertical layout, respectively (domestic GB12666.3 and GB12666.4 standards). IEC60332-3 (domestic corresponding GB12666.5-90) is used to evaluate the flame retardant capacity of the beam cable during vertical combustion, compared with the requirement of the vertical combustion capacity is much higher.

This is the flame-retardant standard for a single cable. The test stipulates that a 60cm long sample is fixed vertically in the metal box opened on the front wall. The propane burner with a flame length of 175mm contacts the flame cone and the cable at 45 degrees from 450mm from the upper fixed end of the sample. If the damaged part of the sample is not more than 50mm from the lower part of the fixed end, the test is passed.
