1. The basic difference between photovoltaic cables and ordinary cables



Due to prolonged exposure to sunlight and rain, solar systems are often used in harsh environmental conditions such as high temperatures and UV radiation and showers. Temperatures in many different countries are as high as around 100°C. At present, we can use a variety of cable materials PVC, rubber, TPE and high-quality cross-linked materials, but unfortunately, the temperature resistance of 90 ℃ rubber cable, and even the rated temperature of 70 ℃ PVC cable is often used outdoors, in order to save cable costs, many engineers choose to use ordinary PVC insulated cables as photovoltaic cables in solar energy systems, which will obviously affect the service life of the system.




2. The benefits of photovoltaic cable irradiation



The characteristics of photovoltaic cables are determined by their special insulation and sheathing materials. We call them cross-linked PE, cross-linked PO, XLPE or XLPO to provide every aspect of their properties. Resistance to Mechanical Loads In fact, during installation and maintenance, photovoltaic cables can be routed on the sharp edges of roof structures, while cables must withstand compression, bending, tension, cross tensile loads and strong shocks. If the strength of the PV cable jacket is not enough, it will seriously damage the PV cable insulation layer, affect the service life of the entire PV cable, or cause the risk of short circuit, fire and personal injury. The UV resistance and flame retardant effect of photovoltaic cables are greatly enhanced.



3. Matters needing attention in the irradiation process of photovoltaic cables



Before irradiation, check that the conductors at the end of each PV cable are fully grounded. It is prohibited to irradiate photovoltaic cables without grounding. The properties of low-smoke halogen-free flame retardant polyolefin irradiating materials have special characteristics to the irradiation process, so the following points should be paid attention to when irradiating:



3.1. Before irradiation, check whether the conductor at the end of each photovoltaic cable is fully grounded. Do not irradiate cables without grounding.


3.2. The absorbed dose of the insulated wire core and sheath during the irradiation process shall be subject to the qualified thermal extension test.


3.3. The surface of the irradiated insulated wire core and sheath layer should be smooth, free of oil stains, no obvious difference in color, no wear, fluff, cracking, blistering, etc., and the printed handwriting should be clear and rub-resistant. Resistant.


3.4. The speed of traction and take-up should be coordinated with the adjustment of the beam to avoid over-medication or over-medication.


3.5. The insulated wire core and sheath after irradiation should be grounded and fully discharged, and transferred to the next process after being placed for 48 hours.
