Many customers are struggling with the question of whether to use hard wires or soft wires for the wires used in home decoration; the discussion about hard wires and soft wires has never stopped. But in fact, for household electricity, there is not much difference between hard wires and flexible wires—it can even be said that the two use hard wires and flexible wires under the good conditions of current, voltage, temperature, frequency, etc. in the home. all will do. Of course, if I had to choose, I would choose the hard line.

BV line, the advantage of hard line

Price, then there is nothing to say. For home decoration, the reason why users use hard wires is slightly more than soft wires. The main reason is that hard wires are cheap. When other performances are the same or different, it is of course The cheaper the better.

Generally speaking, the price of flexible wires of the same brand, same quality, and same wire diameter is about 50 yuan higher per reel (100 meters) than hard wires. Probably because the manufacturing process of multi-core wires is more complicated than that of single-core wires.

Service life: The quality of flexible wires is more likely to oxidize, so for long-term placed wires in the circuit, the life of hard wires is longer than that of flexible wires.

Convenience in construction: whether it is threading or making wire joints, hard wires are relatively easier to operate. Moreover, when making joints or wiring at the terminal posts, the flexible wires often have burrs that are not combed well, which can easily lead to short circuits or leakage.

Tensile resistance: Generally, when there is longitudinal tension, the hard wire has better tensile resistance, but then again, this has no effect on home wire decoration.

Ampacity: The ampacity is more controversial. I only say that when it is used at home - the flexible wire is composed of multiple thin wires, and the resistance of each single strand is relatively large. The hard wire is a single-strand conductor, so in household circuits, the ampacity and heat resistance of the hard wire are higher than those of the soft wire. But in high-frequency circuits, the skin effect must be considered, which we will discuss again.

Advantages of BVR line, soft line

Convenient maintenance: When it comes to changing wires, soft wires are definitely more convenient. When changing the hard line, if you don't use the pull spring, threading steel wire, etc., it will definitely not be able to be removed. But flexible wires can often easily remove the old wires from the conduit and introduce new wires at the same time.

Mechanical properties: Experimental data show that soft wires have obvious advantages in terms of extrusion and bending resistance of BVR wires. Therefore, in the hard line, it is clearly stipulated that the bending angle of 90 and above cannot be routed.

Skin effect: also known as the skin effect. It means that in a high-frequency circuit, the current is concentrated on the surface of the hard-wire conductor, resulting in no current in the center of the hard-wire conductor. On the one hand, it causes waste of conductors, and on the other hand, it greatly reduces the current carrying capacity of the wires.

The soft wire is a multi-strand wire, and the skin effect exists on each strand. As a whole, the anti-skin effect of the soft wire is excellent. In the power grid, hollow copper conductors and multi-strand wires are often used for power transmission operations. of.

Purpose of BV line and BVR line

It is generally used in fixed and infrequently moved places such as deep burial, such as decoration, construction and the main circuit of power distribution cabinets. BVR lines are often used in communication or places that require frequent movement, such as the secondary circuit of the distribution box. It needs to be specially explained that the anti-skin effect in the transmission network uses multi-strand lines, which may not be BVR lines; the communication department is.

Therefore, in home decoration, the BV line is still the mainstream. Sometimes in places where wiring is inconvenient, such as in the ceiling, BVR lines can also be seen. But it is not common to use BVR line as the main line for decoration.

To sum up, surface-mounted wires use multi-core sheathed wires, also known as BVV wires, which are two concepts from BVR wires. The hard wires and flexible wires we talked about during the decoration refer to BV wires and BVR wires-although BVV wires are also multi-strand flexible wires, the insulation methods are different, so BVV wires are suitable for surface installation.
